Hawaii Field Trips
As this page grows we would love to know what residents of Hawaii have done for field trips. Just contact us to share your ideas.
Some great ideas are very simple. The library gives you the world at your fingertips. It is amazing how many people home school and yet do not frequent their local library. One mother told me that she lives in an area where there are several libraries and she finds it fun to take her children to different libraries in the area. Great idea!
If you live near state parks or national parks these are a great resource. We have found the the park rangers are more than willing to give tours or to teach children anything that you can imagine.
Visit the active Kilauea Volcano on the Big Island
Kilauea is located on the southeastern tip of the Big Island of Hawaii and is
one of the most active volcanoes in the world! Hike through lush rainforest to
experience vents spewing steam, brand new land being created, ancient Hawaiian Petra glyphs, walk-through lava tubes, and unrivaled vistas.
See Waimea Canyon on Kauai, known as the Grand Canyon of
the Pacific
