My children have taken German lessons from a family member since they were quite young. They are now learning Spanish as well. My experience has been that children are very capable of picking up a foreign language. The earlier the better. The brain is magnificent. I wondered if my children would confuse English words with the German words and they never have.
I have read many articles and books about children learning foreign languages and I would encourage everyone to expose your children to another language as early as possible. There is no limit to how many languages a child can learn. Most of us know from experience how hard it is to learn them in high school and as adults. It only makes sense that we give them all that we can while they are young.
