Maine Field Trips

As this page grows we would love to know what residents of Maine  have done for field trips.  Just contact us to share your ideas.

Some great ideas are very simple.  The library gives you the world at your fingertips.  It is amazing how many people home school and yet do not frequent their local library.  One mother told me that she lives in an area where there are several libraries and she finds it fun to take her children to different libraries in the area.  Great idea!

If you live near state parks or national parks these are a great resource.  We have found the the park rangers are more than willing to give tours or to teach children anything that you can imagine.

State of Maine Cheese Company                    800-762-8895

461 Commercial Street, Rockport, Maine 04856

"In 1983, the State of Maine Cheese Company was formed on the coast of Maine, in the city of Rockland. Our goal then, and now, was to produce superior quality cheese, made by hand, using fresh milk from local farmers. Our motto, "Great Cheese. Pure and Simple.", has reminded us of the importance of keeping our cheese simple without extra additives and preservatives. Now at our new location in Rockport, Maine, we still honor that tradition.

You are welcome to tour our facilty, but we request that you call ahead to schedule an appointment. We are located on US Route 1 about 5 miles north of the Route 17 and Route 1 intersection in Rockland, or heading south from Camden we are 1 mile south of the Route 1 and Route 90 intersection in Rockport."
